So this is interesting news – a finance organisation has had provisions for the impacts of GenAI on jobs written into their workplace agreement. I think we will see a lot more of these; perhaps FairWork Australia will make it a national standard. Whilst may organisations will claim that the use of such tools is designed to ‘free the human to do more interesting work and reduce manual effort’ the reality is that big business see these tools as a way to cut costs by replacing people (just look at any ChatBot). When we consider the ethical use of data and AI, we can’t just focus on the Customer – we need to treat our employees with respect, dignity and empathy.
